Copyright
The first thing we
need to remember while using the internet is respecting the copyright holder’s policies.
We should follow the copyright rules or regulations of whatever electronic information
we want to use.
As we have free and easy access to much of the content presented
on the internet, it does not mean that we can copy everything and use for own purposes.
We should not copy or distribute any of the copyrighted pictures, documents, videos,
music files without proper permission.
|
Plagiarism:
We should not just
copy and paste any of the electronic material found in the internet for the purpose
of project reports, assignments, home works or Thesis.
Everything we claim to be
our work should be completely our own work.
We can study any of the material found
in Internet and provide summary of our own opinions in our own words. But it is
good practice to cite the reference of the original material in order to give the
credit to the original owners. Because they might have worked so much hard to provide
their work so always the credit should be given by citing the references.
Copying
others work from the internet and submitting as their own work in homework submission
is treated as plagiarism and the student may face serious consequences.
File sharing:
When we use the peer-to-peer
file sharing protocols/software like BitTorrent, LimeWire or Gnutella for sharing
the copyrighted files without the owner’s permission, the copyright holders can
take a legal action against us. There is also one more risk in doing this, which
is a good chance of spreading virus via the file sharing networks.
Show attitude:
It’s very important
to maintain good attitude while interacting with others over the internet. We should
never use any abusive language or intentionally hurt other users.
While exchanging
information, discussing about any topics, using forums or chatting, one should maintain
good respect towards others. It also increases the credibility of the information
we are providing.
