Microsoft
introduced this Recycle bin feature from Windows 95 operating system. Recycle bin
is a place where our files and folders are held before deleting them permanently.
When we delete any file or folder it will be first moved to recycle bin and stored
there using RAM. So, we can have an opportunity of reviewing the files we have already
deleted before they are being deleted for forever.
By going
to recycle bin we can either
(a)Restore all/some of the files we have deleted or
(b)Delete those
files permanently by emptying the recycle bin.
|
We can just do it by using this shortcut:
Right clicking on Recycle bin icon and selecting “Empty Recycle Bin”.
This
is the great choice if we have deleted any file accidentally; we can easily restore
it as it also shows the path, date and time of those files.
Only the files deleted
from the hard drive are stored in the Recycle bin. The files deleted from network
drives and from removable media like floppy disks, SD cards etc. are not stored
in the Recycle bin.
In Windows
XP operating system, generally the maximum amount of size allocated for Recycle
Bin is either 3.99 GB or ten percent of the size of the drive, whichever is smaller.
It is good practice to empty the recycle bin regularly because the computer may
slow down with a full Recycle bin.
