Windows XP

Windows XP was released on October 2001 based on Windows NT Kernel but has the consumer oriented usability of Windows 95. It has two different versions called “Professional” and “Home”.

Professional version contains more networking and security features. The following are the significant features of Windows XP:

a. Multitasking, multithreaded operating system that supports both 32-bit and 64-bit formats.

b. Improved support for laptops and wireless connections.

c. Improved power management.

d. Faster boot-up.

e. Supports Internet Explorer 6.0 Privacy.

f. Built-in firewall feature.

Windows XP Professional Features:

a. Optimized to run on Intel Itanium Processor.

b. Supports remote desktops, multilingual user interface, file encryptions.
