Windows NT 4.0

Windows NT, the professional operating system based on a new kernel was first released in July 1993. Later Windows NT 4.0 which is a fourth version of Windows NT, was released in July 1996.

Some of the significant features of this business-oriented operating system are:

a. Contains Windows Shell, Windows Explorer, and many features in Windows 95.

b. Used preemptive multitasking for 16-bit and 32-bit applications.

c. Account lockout feature included for discouraging unlimited login attempts.

d. Improved performance for graphic intensive applications.

e. Supports symmetric multiprocessing.

f. Diagnostic utility feature for viewing system information was included.

g. Remote dial-in ability to any workstation.
