Cleaning Computer Devices/Components

Before cleaning computer or any of its devices, it is always recommended to switch off power of every thing and wear the anti-static wristband.

Keyboard:

Surface of a keyboard can be cleaned using a slightly moist soft cloth with little soap. Inside dust can be cleaned by holding keyboard in the reverse direction and shaking it or blowing air. We should take care that liquids do not fall on keyboard accidentally.

If any liquid falls on the keyboard, the keyboard should be immediately turned reverse and be in that position for some time to drain all the liquid and to allow it to dry.

If more liquid has gone inside the keyboard then it is better to replace it with a new one.

Mouse

If there is a noticeable lag between the click of the

mouse and the cursor movement, then it is the time to clean the mouse once.

We can clean all the surface area with a soft cloth. The lens of a mouse can be cleaned by blowing air or using cotton wrapped pin. If it is a trackball mouse, we can remove the cover of the track ball to clean the inner surface and the ball. They can be cleaned with cotton or soft cloth. Also the mouse pad should be always clean without dust.

Monitor

These days almost all of us are using LCD monitors. It is better to clean these monitors with LCD cleaning liquids and with special soft cloths which are used for cleaning LCD monitors.

DVD/CD

The marks and dust on DVD/CD can be cleaned using soft cloth or cotton. It is better to clean from inner direction to outer direction rather than cleaning along the tracks direction. We can use damp cloths for cleaning hard dirt. It is recommended to buy disc cleaning kits rather than just using general cleaning stuff.
