Speed of the Computer Processor

The processor’s clock speed which is the rate at which the processor processes the data and the size of the instruction/data bus are the two most important factors that determine the overall speed of a computer.

More data can be transferred in a given amount of time if the bus is wider and faster resulting in increase of speed.

While designing the processors with efficient performance the main element to consider is the Cache memory.

Generally web browsers also use cache to store the graphics and text in a temporary folder on the hard drive so that when we access the same webpage, the browser gets the information stored on the temporary cache folder instead of downloading again from the webpage which saves time.

This concept is similar to the cache we use in the computer.  Here the computer need not have to search around for the information that is stored in the cache for the next time when it is needed.
